2009 Cross Country Season

Practices

Days: Typically Tuesday and Thursday, see calendar.       

Time: 3:15 – 4:15 pm

Location – SPCC            

Pick-up: After practice in gym area

Distance:1 to 3 miles

Equipment/Uniforms

Sneakers are MANDATORY.  Wear comfortable running clothes, layers for cooler weather.  For Meets wear red singlet or red “SPCC” t-shirt.  Black shorts. 

Races/Meets

Average distance: 1.5 to 3 miles

See calendar for schedule and locations.  Typically all Meets are during week.  1 or 2 Meets on Saturday.

Race Day Dismissal

For most races, runners will be dismissed from school between 2:30 and 3:00pm depending on race start times and locations.  The expected dismissal time and directions to the race will be provided in advance.  Runners will change into their running clothes before dismissal. 

Transportation

Transportation to and from races is the responsibility of parents/families.  If you are not able to drive your child to a race, please make arrangements with another parent prior to the day of that race.  If your child will not be attending a race, please notify coaches in advance.

Cancellation/Inclement Weather

Practices and races may be cancelled due to inclement weather or other circumstances.  In the event of cancellation, students will call to notify their parents.  In an effort to limit the number of phone calls being made from the office, students will not be required to make a call if arrangement have been made to (1) attend the After School program (2) ride the bus with siblings or (3) to be picked up with siblings.

Schedule of Meets

*  Wachusett Regional is for boys, and is usually held at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden.  Quabbin Regional is for girls, and is being held at Quabbin Regional High School in Barre. These are invitational meets.  Runner selection is determined by coaches.

Catholic Schools Meet – to be determined  (is usually held at end of the season).
